Law360, New York (December 18, 2015, 6:11 PM ET) — The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on Friday said it has reached a $5 million settlement with Signal International LLC to resolve a race and national origin lawsuit the bankrupt shipbuilder had faced over its treatment of Indian guest workers.

Mobile, Alabama-based Signal has also agreed to publicly acknowledge wrongdoing and apologize to guest workers, who claim Signal subjected them to forced labor in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the EEOC said in a statement.

The money Signal will pay is part of a $20 million…
