Law360, New York (December 16, 2015, 9:21 PM ET) — Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s claims that the president’s executive action policies on immigration would increase crime in Maricopa County are “unfounded speculation,” the administration told the U.S. Supreme Court Tuesday, urging justices to reject the controversial lawman’s appeal.

The U.S. Department of Justice argued in a filing that the D.C. Circuit made the right move in August when it upheld the dismissal of Arpaio’s lawsuit because he did not have legal standing to bring the challenge.
