Law360, Washington (December 14, 2015, 7:47 PM ET) — The U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division and Immigration and Customs Enforcement unveiled an internal audit guidance Monday to help ensure employers that are increasingly conducting internal audits of their I-9 forms do not discriminate in the process.
ICE and the DOJ said the guidance is designed to outline the audits’ scope and purpose, provide considerations before conducting an audit, and give information on correcting errors or omissions. The forms are used to confirm the identity and work authorization of employees.
