Law360, Miami (December 16, 2015, 9:55 PM ET) — Citing recent reports documenting welfare abuse by Cuban immigrants, a Miami congressman introduced a bill Tuesday that would remove the automatic benefits afforded to Cubans in the United States and end their blanket refugee status.

Rep. Carlos Curbelo, R-Fla., said H.R. 4247, the Cuban Immigrant Work Opportunity Act, would curb such abuses by forcing Cubans seeking access to public assistance benefits to demonstrate that they are political refugees.
