Law360, Los Angeles (September 30, 2016, 8:04 PM EDT) — A disbarred former San Francisco immigration attorney and Harvard Law graduate pled guilty in California federal court to kidnapping a woman and pretending to be a group of elite kidnappers in a failed ransom-seeking scheme, the Department of Justice announced Thursday.

The former lawyer, Matthew Muller, 39, of South Lake Tahoe, California, pled guilty in California’s Eastern District on Thursday to one count of kidnapping, according to the announcement. Muller faces up to life in prison when he comes before U.S. District Judge Troy Nunley for…
