Law360, New York (October 18, 2016, 8:19 PM EDT) — Banking giant Emirates NBD told a California federal court Monday that a jury verdict has already resolved a U.S. fintech firm’s Unfair Competition Law claims, including allegations that the bank’s CEO extorted and threatened the technology company to steal its cellphone-based payment system.
A California federal jury in August tossed InfoSpan Inc.’s $554 million suit accusing the Dubai-based bank of ripping off its SpanCash system, which allowed people without bank accounts to securely send funds abroad using their cellphones.
