Jerry Brown signed off on a major piece of legislation Monday that will establish a timeline to phase in overtime requirements for farm workers, who are often immigrant laborers, winning praise from the biggest farm workers union in the country.

Brown approved Assembly Bill No. 1066, which removes an exemption for farm workers when it comes to meal breaks and hours, and will create a schedule to gradually introduce overtime requirements for the workers over four years, according to a summary of the bill….
