Law360, New York (October 3, 2016, 10:12 AM EDT) — The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday denied the Obama administration’s request for a rehearing in the case over President Barack Obama’s controversial executive actions on immigration, leaving in place a block on programs that would have provided expanded deportation relief to millions.

The high court shot down the rehearing request in U.S. v. Texas, the blockbuster case over Obama’s executive actions that would allow potentially millions of immigrants to defer deportation and apply for work permits for three-year periods.
